Random crashes and system freeze

Hello,

I recently bought Pathfinder: Kingmaker (imperial edition) on GoG but sadly the game suffers from a crashing issue.

I have already contacted GoG support but all of their solutions did not seem to help.
Clean windows install with a fresh game install. Crashes randomly after 10-20 minutes of game-play. usually the whole system will lock up and a reboot will happen automatically.

I am playing on border-less fullscreen windowed mode and all drivers are updated.

Sometimes after reloading a save or starting combat the All tab on the combat log stops updating (altho the other three tabs do keep updating for some reason).
Also, I have noticed that deleting a save file from the Load menu will cause all other save files to lose the preview secreenshot.

I added one of the errors the Reliability viewer found.

I will provide any information needed to try and solve the problem.
They offered a refund but I am really interested in this game.

Thanks,
Ido.

The most usual cause for crashes now still seems to be the full screen setting with Unity game engine. Try to use the “borderless fullscreen window” (or something like that) setting.

Edit 3h later : My bad, I did not see that you were already doing just that. My apologies.

Since you are already playing on borderless fullscreen? Check if you can update your graphic card driver.

You should also try to right click on the game in GOG Galaxy > manage installation > repair / verify

Thank you for your replies,

I am already using borderless fullscreen. (I will note that the tutorial setting keeps resetting to default)
nVidia drivers were updated yesterday.
I am using veryfy/repair after each time I launch the game.

Nothing helps. 15-20 minutes to system freeze / client crash.
Clean windows install on a fresh game install. new campaign, using 1 custom portrait from nexus mods. (do custom portraits break the game?)

Can you give list of your PC components.
Few things what come to my mind are:

  • Are you using any mods, will game work without them (or get same problems)?
  • Have you overclocked your CPU / GPU (processor and graphic card) or your memory? Will it help if you take them off and try to play again?
  • What HWiNFO64 tell if you let it run behind while you play / stress test your computer (what are heat in GPU/CPU, how are clock speeds and so on, are things OK in that apartment?)
  • When was last time when you open your computer, take dust off, maybe changed your thermal paste? Will that effect in your heat / make computer work better.
  • Are you updated your OS (windows I assume)
  • Are you updated your GPU drivers, not using what are given with some CD but from they homepage (Nvidia or AMD)?
  • Your motherboard drivers, I assume you have updated and installed them (from Intel/AMD and your motherboard company homepage)

Naturally problem might be broken something, or not enough cooling. But try these things first.

I am using an Intel i5-9600k (no overclock)
nVidia GTX 970 (no overclock) Drivers are up to date.
Asus strix Z390-H (BIOS updated)
16GB RAM
Windows 10 (x64) clean fresh install. Updated to the latest.

Using only 1 custom portrait. No mods.
No component in my system goes over 50c @ stress. My PC was cleaned 3 days ago.

GoG support suggested sharing the DMP file with the developers but it is too large to upload…

Did you ever find a solution? My game constantly crashes randomly with no mods and im desperate for a fix

Same here. Gotten no response since first posting about it, tried emailing. Am beginning to wonder whether there is, in fact, no actual technical support
