I have excluded the following Weapons because they are not visible enough (further Explanation): Gauntlets (part of Armor), Brass Knuckles, Handwraps, Blade Boot, Spiked Armor (part of Armor), Thorn Bracer (part of Armor).

I have excluded the following Weapons because they are or sound very clownish, are based on tools or are or sound simply overly weird (further Explanation): Traveling Kettle, Hook Hand (would need your hands missing in the first place), Mere Club, Kumade (= essentially a rake), Sap, War Razor (= essentially a Razor), Ankus (animal training tool), Combat Scabbard, Scizore, Sword Cane (blade in walking stick), Pickaxe, Knuckle-Axe, Barbazu Beard, Battle Poi, Flying Talon, Gnome Pincher, Halfling Rope-Shot, Boulder Helmet, Quadrens (search for it to get a laugh), Rope Gauntlet, Sabre Sawtooth, Siangham (= basically an Arrow), Hooked Axe, Knobkerrie (wooden Mace), Ram Hammer, Spiral Rapier, Sickle-Sword, Split-Blade Sword, Butchering Axe, Battle Ladder, Boarding Gaff (tool), Crook, Elven Branched Spear, Flying Blade, Garrote, Mancatcher, Skull Ram, Ripsaw Glaive, Bladed Scarf, Totem Spear, Sphinx Hammer, Spiked Chain, Lantern Staff, Weighted Spear.

I have excluded the following Weapons because they look too much like an existing weapon (Weapon they look alike to): Battle Aspergillum (Light Mace), Morningstar (Heavy Mace), Boarding Axe (Handaxe), Boarding Pike (Longspear), Boar Spear (Spear), Bill (Bardiche), Guisarme (Glaive), Bec de Corbin (Lucerne Hammer = Poll Option), Chain Flail (Flail), Planson (Spear), Ranseur (Longspear), Syringe Spear (Spear), Axe-Gauntlet (any Axe), Swordbreaker Dagger (Dagger), Maulaxe (Axe), Sanpkhang (Dagger), Sica (Kukri), Broken-Back Seax (Shortsword), Flindbar (Nunchaku), Double Spear (Two-bladed Sword), Flailpole (Flail), Longhammer (Lucerne Hammer = Poll Option), Whip (is non-lethal, Scorpion Whip = Poll Option).

I have excluded the following Weapons because they need an additional asset to be viable (Asset needed to be viable): Dogslicer (Goblin Race), Switchblade Knife (added animation), Sea-Knife (aquatic campaign), Horsechopper (Goblin Race), Ogre Hook (Ogre Race), Butterfly Knife (added animation), Drow Razor (Drow Race), Flickmace (extending animation), Rhoka (Urdefhan whatever Race), Giant-Sticker (Giant campaign), Harpoon (aquatic campaign), Piston Maul (steampunk campaign), Switchscythe (added animation), Terbutje (primal campaign), War-Shield (not bash but swinging animation).

I voted for whip, lance and cestus.

  • whip is most different from any existing weapon, so this would be my first choice.
  • Lance may be interesting because of mounted combat.
  • Cestus was influenced by the fallout games, where gloves and similar weapons use the unarmed combat category. It may be fun to punch enemies effectively without being a monk.

There are already punch daggers in the game. They count as daggers.
Most other examples are very close to weapons that already exist. An axe is an axe and a sword is a sword, even if the blade is slightly different curved.

To be honest I would prefer grouping several similar weapons into the same category instead of adding new weapon types.
A gladius is a short sword. A flambard is a great sword and kopesh+shotel are curved swords like a scimitar.
It is already bad enough when you want to chose a weapon focus/specialisation plus other feats that require a weapon you have focus with.

Edit: NWN2 compensated this with the ability to craft and enchant weapons and armor yourself. In a game it would feel really bad if you have weapon focus short sword and you find a gladius and you think “Hey, I should be able to use this, right?”
We already have this in the game. The PnP description of duelling sword says it can be used as longsword, duelling sword profiency only allows you to use it as finesse weapon.

+1. The bayonet crossbow is my 4th (or fire arms if it was an option).

But when I look at the weapon list, whip, sword cane… I vote for a bloodborne like horror campaign for the next game ;D

Cavalier needs more polearms, no question about that. Hence my vote for Halberd and Lance. My third vote is reserved for Ratfolk Tailblade in the hopeful event that race makes it inside WotR.

After picking i realised that i seem to have a slight bias towards weapons with reach XD

  • Whip: I think that it is really different from other weapons we already have and it would be cool to use in some “thematic” builds (Indiana Jones style) and with some DEX based battlefield control characters.

  • Halberd: I wanted to pick some kind of battlefield polearm since i feel that we lack those in the game a bit while we already have the classics two-handed weapons (Swords, Axes and Mauls). I also could have picked a poleaxe (The lucerne i think) but also something completely different like Cestus or Katar since this was not set in stone as a pick like the first one and the next.

  • Lance: Small size race Cavalier. On a mastiff. With a lance. Please. Make it happen. That aside I think that with the introduction of Mounted Combat this is a no brainer.

The Halberd has no Reach though (as per its Paizo entry). From all Poll options only the Lance, (Dwarven) Longaxe, Lucerne Hammer and Whip have it. I also like Reach Weapons so I voted for the Lucerne Hammer.

Then we have the Reach (Dwarven) Longhammer but Ive added the similar looking Lucerne Hammer since while it has a smaller Crit Multiplier, it allows to do Piercing damage in addition to Bludgeoning as well as being a Martial Weapon.

The same cant be said about the (Dwarven) Longaxe which I added because its basically an Axe with Reach and we lack that. The Lucerne Hammer fills that gap for Hammers.

i’m not sure pathfinder is strictly only having their own weapons. if not i would like to see “chakram”. this weapon is looks like 2 big rings. if you play Devil May Cry is called Aquilla.

I will make a different thread with the Poll for Ranged Weapons like Chakrams when I have time next. I also excluded some ‘Melee’ Weapons that have a solid range in this threads Poll for that reason (the various throwing Knifes etc.).

but in all honesty… there are so many weapon types… and i the real bummer is that everyone has their own favorites and possibly there ain’t a good weapon that you love in the game or usable by your class or build.

wondering if owlcat will give this a good thought? or any weapon enchantment in the game? if not mistaken those enchantment are mostly spell/ability like in PKM eg. paladin divine weapon.

Lance is basically required for Cavalier. Core part of the class mechanics. But I hope we get real lances, not tournament lances as pictured so far.

Oh, ok, I think I got confused with D&D 5E halberds, my bad. So I guess Lucerne would have been a better pick XD Yeah I agree with you, the Lucerne can fill many missing spots in the game weaponry, if I could I would definitely change my vote

Yes, please

EDIT: Oh, but I CAN change my vote, fantastic.

You have whip in the voting, and scorpion whip in the description. Which do you mean?

The Paizo entry for Whip states its damage is non-lethal which makes it useless so essentially I mean a Whip that does lethal damage and the only one I found was Scorpion Whip but searching for it yielded a lot of nasty pics so I searched for Whip instead and used a pic of a Whip I could definitely see doing lethal damage.

As to what type of whip that is Im not sure since I didnt understand the Scorpion Whips description as english is not my native language. The Poll option means really any Whip that does lethal damage.

How can you do that. Id like to know too !

There is a “Show vote” toggle under the percentages of the poll with a barred eye icon, if you click it it will show your votes and you can uncheck and change them

Hmmm. I’d say the “whip” with 2d4 damage instead of 1d4. The 1d4 in the rules is really for a long rawhide whip with a tooth at the end, I recognize the photo as a bladed chain variation of the spiked chain.

Whips are needed for my Belmont builds.
